1968 Ford 17M – P7 [1982] .. my first ‘real car’ I drove, with steering column manual shifter. Bought for DM 250 … sold it to another soldier: this picture is from the day I handed it to him, in front of the big Westfalenkaserne barracks in Ahlen, NRW Germany
1968 Ford 17M – P7 [1982]
Bought this one for DM 100 from a fellow soldier, when I damaged my whole front, when I rear-ended someone in a Ford Consul on ice … after flipping the front section, we then drove the spare a bunch of times against a solid wall (shrug — one was young and stupid once …).
1972 Ford Consul ‘Saloon’ Sedan (Mark I) [1982] … some fellow soldiers touched my car on a country road with a Porsche 924 they were test-driving (they were at fault – but with 3 witnesses versus 1 -me- and just a lot of debris on the road, I never collected any compensation from them. I guess they were punished enough coming back from the test drive with a ruined Porsche they lost control over …).
I was in Paris via Brussels twice with this car – very reliable!

installed front and rear bumpers from a Cheve Chevelle … the shop had to cut out 10 inches in the middle to make it fit. Getting the small front license plate was a major effort at the time, I had to trick the authorities, and got it when showing up on December 31, when the office was minimally staffed with irregular personnel …

1983 Oldsmobile Cutlass Cruiser 5th Generation [1987–1988] .. a Netherlands car I had trouble to get German registration for (this was pre-Schengen) was fun, but a major headache: had blown two Diesel engines, then converted to gas, yet still a disaster

1982 Ford Granada 2.8L Mark II .. I really loved this one. And it was fast: over 200 km/h – then guzzling maximum gas – with enough time, and factory lowered suspension. I put a LOT of miles on it.

just to move boxes to airfreight, and furniture etc for the move to the USA — 1982 Volkswagen LT28 [3+4/1994]
This DM 800 vehicle literally (!) died on the Berlin Tegel TXL airport parking lot on 04 APR 1994, and had to get towed (to the junk yard!) after we were in the air (by the people we gave it to for free) … just to move boxes to airfreight, and furniture etc for the move to the USA … we had hauled the tranquillized dog in her big transport box and all the bags and suitcases with it to the airport.
