MetaData collected from AIS, personal devices (aka smart phones), use of open communication in and out of ports, and the lack of a holistic Cyber Defense on vessels and supporting supply chains, increasingly opens doors to locate and track vessels and individuals, break into IT & OT systems, and manipulate naval operations. New Artificial Intelligence (AI) probing and infiltration tools make this even easier, and on a grander scale.
Creativity and innovation is needed to protect against all these risk in an agile and adaptive manner to protect Privacy of vessel and occupants, and ensure an active and adaptive Cyber Defense against all threats.
