It had also failed the technical inspection (which in those days you could go past by three months max) … but I sweet-talked the tester into letting me go with it to “claim” a failed repair (the main brake line burst on the testing stand, and he wanted to immediately shut it down for good) … he did let me go in the end :) — I only needed the transporter (with a broken manifold, too, really loud inside) to haul stuff around for the move, and then trash it.
